About Us
OneProfession was set up by an engineer in the UK who felt that the while many other professions are using the web as a supporting medium for sharing ideas and experience, engineers and scientists only shared technical content. There are many forums discussing computing standards, electronics and chemistry, but few of them explore management, learning and quality. These are threads in the technological environment that are necessary to our efficient progression. This site aims to bring the STEM community together to accelerate the sharing of that knowledge.
Getting Support
There are two types of support that we anticipate - support for using OneProfession services, and support in your role. We try to provide both, as follows:
- OneProfession services are supported by us, through direct contact on-line or by using the discussion area.
- Support in your role is provided, where appropriate, through the relevant articles and discussion threads. You can search existing topics for answers, or create your own in the discussion area.
Providing Support
OneProfession aims to be a free service, and to do so must source voluntary help where possible. Of course, we appreciate donations for covering those fees that we must pay. However, we follow a simple but mature principle; sharing. For further information, read about contributing.
The point of One Profession is simple: to support and unite people working in or for engineering, science and technology. That said, there are a number of key reasons to do this:
Site Mission
- To spread knowlege and best practice more quickly, better enabling efficiency, quality and safety.
- To help teach children and young adults about the industry, and to encourage them to consider it as a career choice.
- To help individuals develop themselves professionally, giving them more satisfying careers and giving the industry more capabable employees.
- To provide more options to the community for places to communicate and socialise.
- To link to the best resources and promote them, not replace them, by being a reliable hub of information.
